To help make the front page of your blog more readable, there is something called the “more” function. This tells the blog software to chop off the rest of your post and give the reader a link to the next page.
We use this idea on the homepage of TeachFor.Us where we feature recent posts from the whole site.
To use the more function you have two options:
- While in visual editor mode (most people… you’ll see the little toolbar above where you type): Put your cursor where you’d like to insert the break. Click the button that looks like two boxes with a blue dotted line in between to the right of the little tree icon.
- While in text editor mode: Insert the tag < !--more--> without the space before the !
